Dots - Knowledge Nuggets
In a world full of scattered information, Dots are Doti’s way of helping you capture and reuse knowledge - without requiring full-blown documents, wiki pages, or files.
Think of Dots as atomic knowledge units - quick to create, easy to manage, and always part of your knowledge graph.
What Are Dots?
Dots are lightweight, structured knowledge entries that live within Doti and can be surfaced in responses, agents, Autopilot answers, and more.
They’re designed to help you:
Capture insights, decisions, and updates on the fly
Record tribal knowledge that doesn’t belong in Jira or Notion
Preserve context without over-documenting
📌 You can think of Dots as your “knowledge sticky notes” - except they’re searchable, structured, and smart.
How Dots Are Created
There are two main ways to create a Dot:
1. Using /doti memo
in Slack
/doti memo
in SlackType the following in any Slack channel or DM:
/doti memo [your knowledge snippet]
After submitting, you’ll be asked to choose the association type:
Personal Dot - Visible only to you
Public Dot Visible to everyone in your org
Agent Dot — Used by a specific Agent or Autopilot
Example:
/doti memo Weekly rollout is now every Thursday
2. Modifying a Doti Answer
Every Doti-generated answer in Slack comes with a “Modify” button.
Click it to rewrite or improve the response
Once confirmed, the updated answer is automatically saved as a Dot
The new Dot is remembered and used next time that question (or similar ones) are asked
✨ This is powerful: you can shape your knowledge base in real time as part of your workflow.
Where Dots Live and How to Manage Them
All Dots are stored in the Doti backend and integrated into its retrieval system.
To manage your Dots:
Go to: https://portal.doti.ai/dots
From there, you can:
Search for existing Dots
Filter by visibility (Personal, Public, Agent)
Modify content or ownership
Delete old or redundant Dots
Changes are applied instantly and affect how Doti responds from that moment on.
Dots as Part of the Knowledge Lake
Unlike traditional knowledge tools that rely on folders or pages, Dots are:
Integrated with all of your connected tools (Slack, Confluence, Drive, etc.)
Indexed and surfaced like any other knowledge source
Agent-aware - Dots can be scoped to specific Agents to ensure relevance
Searchable and retrievable in context
✅ Dots become part of your unified knowledge system, helping Doti answer questions with speed and precision — even if the info was never documented elsewhere.
